Are you even in Prague if you don’t visit the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, or the Astronomical clock? Is it possible to wander through this historic city and miss them completely? I’m not sure, they are pretty hard to miss. And although these spots are full-on touristic, they are still super fun to check out, and of course very photogenic.
Staroměstské náměstí: Old Town Square
In Staroměstské náměstí you will find the Old Town Hall, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinský Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the monument to Jan Hus, of Hussite fame and mentioned in my other post.

Mala Strana
Just past the Charles Bridge and on the way to the Prague Castle, Mala Strana is, in a word, picturesque.
Prague Orloj, the Astronomical Clock
Who doesn’t love a good medieval clock? I know I do. And while the chiming mechanism is hard to see well, particularly with the huge crowds camped out around it, when its not scheduled to chime you can see the clock pretty well.
But in case you are interested, the seconds-long show goes like this:
The skeleton representing death starts to ring a bell, suggesting “It’s time.” Three other figures, representing vanity, greed, and entertainment, all shake their heads, saying they’re not ready. A parade of apostles walks by behind them. Then, to conclude, a trumpeter at the top of the tower blows his horn.
Then its over, and the crowd disperses. You can take a photo in peace.
Karlův Most: Charles Bridge
We happened to be near the Charles Bridge just before sunset, and that’s when we learned what all the fuss was about. What a view!
Art Nouveau Architecture
If you spend even a few hours in Prague you’d be hard-pressed to miss the brilliant art nouveau buildings, windows, and signs. I captured a few of my favorites.
Not art nouveau, but still endlessly entertaining, there are a lot of impressive doors throughout the city, and a few fun metro stations, too.
Prague Castle Complex
Katedrála Sv. Víta: St. Vitus Cathedral
If you visit the castle, its worthwhile to head to the cathedral to ascend the 100 meters high tower. Its a climb of more than 280 steps but on a clear day the view of the city couldn’t be better.
