Park Güell, created by architects Antoni Gaudí, Josep Maria Jujol, and Joan Rubió, and commissioned by Eusebi Güell, is yet another intriguing example of Catalan Modernism. Originally intended to become a residential area for wealthy families, this plan was abandoned in 1914 because the plots of land didn’t sell. Thus, Park Güell became a popular garden and one of the most visited spots in the city.

We visited on a Saturday morning, and it was, not surprisingly, packed. Still impressive and delightful to explore.

L’Escalinata del Drac

The most popular spot in the park, everybody wants to see the “drac”, the dragon. He’s more like a very large iguana, and pretty cute.
